SYNOPSIS
In Spain, in 2008, there were 3457 suicides, an average of 9 per day, a figure that exceeds the deaths first victims of traffic And while every Monday we put our attention on the victims of car accidents, suicide victims sneak systematically. It is not an individual drama, it's a real social problem.
Moreover, 3 of every 4 suicide are men. Worldwide, 2700 people a day commit suicide and they try 54000 (per year, this is a million and 20 million suicide attempts). Suicide is the leading cause of violent death and these figures exceed the sum of those killed in all wars and homicides that occur on the planet.
This is a phenomenon that increases year after year and it is estimated that by 2020 there will be increased by 50% the number of people who take their life. On one hand the false fear of "contagion effect" and secondly the inability of a society to admit that behind every story there is a failure suicide overall system have prevented a slow and accurate reflection on the causes of this phenomenon.
